Marks favorite Physically Disabled Trails

We are often asked if there are any trails in the Bradshaw Mountain area, that physically challenged family's and individuals can easily navigate. Here we recommend three. We are including photographs throughout the trail so you can make a good decision if you want to visit. A Google track map is also included to further help.

Please forgive any spelling and grammatical errors as we often create the trail text and photographs on our phones for easy upload.

Groom Creek Nature Trail

A beautiful paved 1/4 mile trail. Fee required.

In Prescott take Mount Vernon south for about 6.5 miles to the quaint  town of Groom Creek. Just past the town turn left into the trail head parking lot. This is the same parking lot that for the historical Groom Creek School.

This trail is paved and is a very pretty short walk or push through woods and boulders.

It is also an interpretive trail with signage explaining wildlife in the area and forest habitat.

These photographs were made on a cold fall day and we suggest using this trail, when their is no snow.

This area has a nice picnic location.                                     Fee required

Peavine National Recreation Trail

This is one of the Rails to Trails projects here in AZ. To get to the trail head take Hwy 89 to Prescott Lakes Parkway, then Sundog Ranch Road or follow the signs to Watson Woods Preserve. Parking is $2.00.

Photo taken along the trail.

This trail is constructed along an old railroad grade so there are no steep hills to go up. Wheelchairs can comfortably be used on the hard packed granite surface.

One can travel all the way to Prescott Valley but the prettiest parts are along Watson Lake and in the Dells.

Interpretive signs along the trail.

This trail offers excellent opportunities to view waterfowl, turkeys and deer.

Bridges cross washes and creeks.

Lynx Creek Trail
Trail # 311

A resting place along the trail with a view.

To get to this very scenic trail take Walker Rd (by Costco) to Lynx Lake. A fee is required.
The west bank of the lake has the paved trail portion. There is very little elevation gain making it perfect for strollers and wheel chairs. It is paved for about one mile. Well constructed bridges lead across several drainage's.

Bridges offer safe crossings.

Lynx Lake is a popular destination for Valley of the Sun travelers during the summer, offering cooler temperatures. Fishing and boating are popular on Lynx Lake.

Wildlife are use to people so one can get close for photography and viewing. Ducks and geese as well as bald eagles can be seen. Deer and Abert's squirrels live around Lynx Lake.

I've heard the Lynx Lake restaurant offers good food with a beautiful view of the lake.

The trail continues around the east bank of the lake. It is dirt only and not passable with wheel chairs or strollers.
